A game about Tom Jones, and not once does he burst out into "It's Not Unusual" when you win a level.
What a gyp.

You need some kind of "fast forward" button to speed up those ungodly-slow elevators when you catch them exactly at the wrong time. Or for levels like #15. Uuuuugh. My impatience with them actually got the poor character impaled on that level... Lol. It would also be nice if elevators would "snap" to floors on levels like #10. It's annoying when you don't get it exactly and have to restart. Or if your buddy (I shall refer to him as "Mothy" since he compulsively follows any light he finds) were able to jump up onto uneven platforms, it would solve the same problem.
It would also be sweet if you had some sort of way of separating blocks you accidentally pushed /all the way/ together, like the character automatically taking some sort of wedge and separating them.
The level should automatically restart when you accidentally kill Mothy and can't get any further without him.
All those frustrations voiced, I still think the puzzles per se are fairly easy. If you continue this series, I would enjoy more levels in the next iteration, with some really fiendish ones near the end.
Puzzle #3 made no sense... Until I solved it and saw what the achievement said. I thought I just had to add all the shapes together to make the image, but you were assigning numbers to the pictures... I was still able to solve the puzzle, but just got confused when only one row had three too many dots, it seemed. Putting in a small legend off in a corner somewhere that says "dot = whatever number" and "circle = whatever number" would certainly make it more intuitive. Maybe that was on the cave paintings that I couldn't go back and study...
Since one can't go backwards (which is especially annoying since you can click ANYWHERE on some screens and go forward... I wanted to go back and look at the cave drawings.)
Why does burning the spider web take two clicks??? You'd think that you'd just set fire to it and it would be gone. Now I'm just nit-picking. Sorry.
The spin puzzles were also a bit annoying, having to click so many times. Maybe have it so that you can click and hold until you want the ring to stop turning?
All the same, I enjoyed the shit out of this :D The puzzles were tough enough to be mentally stimulating.
I got to level 6 and just can't figure out wtf to do... Can't jump over, can't push boxes... Can't help but think that I'd be able to solve this if the controls/mechanics were explained to me, even /a little/... I thought it might be something cheeky like you being able to walk right past the spikes, but no, not even that...
It could also use a pause menu, so you can exit to the main menu/restart without reloading the page...
I loled at granny hanging off a shelf by her chin... Then being able to use her face to jump up in the air, and land on the shelf. Lololololol...
You forgot the "marry" option, lol :P
Great game, but the "set them free" medal doesn't work... I got the last soul on level 28, Nothing popped. :(
The ending was also really short and didn't feel like any sort of "reward"... It would have been acceptable if the ghost were experiencing flashbacks or something along his journey, but as it stands, there is no real plot to speak of in a type of game that really should have a plot...
Awesome game... Part tetris, part donkey kong... You have to use your brain to solve the puzzles (sometimes quickly) to get the stars, and have to hit fiendishly-precise button combinations/timings to set a fast time (or even get through the level sometimes)...
This kept me thoroughly hooked, and as of this writing, I have all the stars and sit at #6 on the all-time high scores list...
(All I have to say about "much blood!!!" is: YOU BASTARD! THAT ONE TOOK ME LIKE AN HOUR!!! Lol)
There are a couple of niggling things that I don't really consider "drawbacks" as such, but little refinements you might make if you made a commercial version of this game (which I'm sure you could):
1) I remember the controls being a little loopy on a couple of occasions, but I really couldn't tell you how or where, since I was so sucked into trying to beat my high score/get all the stars...
2) Sometimes you can fall from a "crumbling" square, and still get pegged by the spike squares in the row/column beside it. Maybe try making it so that it auto-centres you on the square whenever you land on a "crumbling" square.
3) This last one is a problem in like 9/10 games that have spikes in them, but when you hit the /side/ of the spikes, you die. This just doesn't make any sense at all to me...
Nice review, thanks. I'm really happy that you've enjoyed my game. I will implement auto-center when i go commercial.)
Sweet, I always wanted a "wasted colony" that was a bit less strategy and a bit more brawling...
It's annoying that the speech bubbles scroll by much too quickly in the cut-scenes, though. I could only read about half of them. It's really a shame, since the English in this makes me giggle. If you need help with the grammar/spelling in your translations, feel free to PM me.
I found a glitch that let me get full upgrades on level two...
- Buy level one upgrade, keep level two upgrade selected
- Click "undo"
- Now you can buy 4 gold worth of upgrades for 3 gold, and you get 4 gold back again when you hit "undo". You can do this all the way until you are fully upgraded (buy level 3, select level 4, sell, buy 13 gold's worth for 6 gold, sell again for 13). Basically an accidental "infinite money cheat".
(only works in "Forge" and "Tower of Magic")
Oh, and it would be nice to have tooltips for the spells during a battle. I had no idea what the hell they did and just clicked them randomly and hoped for the best.
